History

Haringey Hawks Basketball has been running since 2010.  We provide quality basketball coaching for boys aged 8 to 19.  The goal of the Club is to promote the sport of basketball, instill an ethos of hard work, dedication and commitment in our players, whilst building their confidence and their level of sporting ability.

At Haringey Hawks, we see ourselves as a family, not just a basketball club. We provide not only quality basketball coaching, but also advice and guidance to our young members.  We saw a lack of quality         basketball provision in the borough and wanted to create opportunities for young boys to participate in their chosen sport and develop their skills in a disciplined but friendly setting.

We began with a small group of 10 or so boys, and now have over 100 playing members.  With past players and supporters, we have a membership base of over 500.

We are delivering the lifelong fundamentals of hard work, respect and discipline, both on and off the court. We aim to use sport as a tool to reach young people and encourage them to maintain grades at school, make positive life decisions and increase their physical activity.

Haringey Hawks Basketball Club is guided by dedicated volunteers, who give up a huge amount of time and energy to support the club’s members and help them develop not only as basketball players but also as individuals.

Our only sources of revenue are from subscriptions from parents of players and through various charitable trusts and funding streams which are becoming increasingly more competitive to access.

Our Basketball Programme

We train at the Haringey 6th Form College.  Although the basketball season spans 9 months, from September to May, we train all year round. We provide quality training sessions and competitive game opportunities for boys aged 11 to 19. Our training sessions are run by fully qualified Coaches and provide development for all abilities and level of experience.

During the season, our U14s and U16s team practice twice a week., while our U18s, through their attendance at the Haringey 6th Form Centre Basketball Academy, train every day. They participate in games both home and away, at National League all over the country and Local League levels all over London.  Last season (2019/2020) saw Haringey Hawks going from strength to strength; Hawks U18 entered the prestigious European Youth Basketball League where they competed against top U20 European talent, winning all their games, and finishing as their group Champions. 4 of our players went on to earn themselves international scholarships in America and Europe. Off-season, we run camps and participate in friendly games and tournaments both in London and the South East. Our camps cater for anyone who just wants to enjoy basketball for fun, while our

Intensive Training Camps offer elite training for those players who want to progress and develop their skills with instruction from top coaching in a highly disciplined environment. We offer the opportunity for our young people to not only receive the best in basketball coaching but also to gain qualifications in coaching, refereeing and table officiating;  skills that will assist them in the future and provide them with employment opportunities.
